This beautiful hand painted reproduction of Claude Monet’s original art work On The Boat is true homage to the artist. Monet was a pioneer for Impressionism and artists of the twentieth century. Monet created many oil paintings featuring his family in a rowing boat along the River Epte.

Connected by a small waterway from his garden in Giverney the artist and his family would frequently set out along the river. On The Boat was created in 1887: Four years after Monet had moved his family to this small town and three years before he purchased the property and began to build his now famous Japanese Gardens.

Monet would invariably create a series of paintings – Capturing the same scene over again in different a different light and weather conditions. This composition was part of a series titled simply Boating and is the most completed of all. The young girls in the boat are Monet’s step daughters Suzanne and Blanche Hoshede.
