Necrophilic Fountain Flowing from a Grand Piano is a high quality reproduction of Salvador Dali’s original work created in 1933 of the same title. The grand piano was featured in Dali’s compositions during the thirties: Including Invisible Man 1932 and The Enigma of William Tell also created in 1933. As opposed to being a vision from a dream Dali once explained that his depiction of Pianos upon the landscape was something he had seen in the ‘real world’. This seems to make sense as the Dali family had been great friends of the Pitchot’s who regularly performed outdoor concerts and would indeed go to the extent of bringing their grand piano along.

The Cypress tree also featured in Dali’s work during this time. Again, these trees were reminiscent of the Pichot residence where he is known to have spent many days indulging in erotic daydreams.
