Modern Mayhem is a
beautiful example of the style and concepts of what we now refer to as ‘Modern
Art’. This denotes the artistic works created during a hundred year period that
began around 1860. Modern Mayhem reflects a time when traditions were moved aside
to make way for new philosophies, ideas and experimentation.
Without doubt,
Modern Mayhem is an abstraction in the true spirit of Modern art. Even so, it
is a contemporary oil painting created as art in the twenty first century.
Abstract art began with painters such as Cézanne whose concept was that all
nature can be reduced to three essential solid forms: The cone, the cube and
the sphere: And indeed, the sphere is prevalent within this composition.
One of greatest
artists of the twentieth century – Pablo Picasso based his early cubist works
upon the ideas of Cézanne. While modern artists primarily looked toward the
natural world as subject matter for their experimentation: The contemporary
artist is faced with a world that incorporates man and machinery in many
ways. Cubism had much influence on
Futurist painters who sought to investigate the relationships between the
subject matter and the environment it resides in.
Modern Mayhem is the
future – It investigates the natural world through color – Blue and green are
the most predominant on the planet. With regards to form, it plays with the
idea of how the natural and machine world combine. This is a Modern Mayhem.
