Living Still Life is a hand painted reproduction of the original oil painting by Spanish Surrealist artist Salvador Dali. The original was finished in 1956 and titled Nature Morte Vivante - Living Still Life and is considered to be one of Dali’s Masterworks. It reflects the influence the Classical arts had over the evolution of his work and while this was by no means Dali’s first Still Life – It is the first to depict objects in-motion and so Dali’s newly evolving theme of Nuclear Mysticism (Nuclear Motion) - Which provokes a certain irony in that no element within the composition is actually ‘still’.

For Dali this composition was an illustration of the “decomposition of a fruit dish." The Knife not only highlights the in-motion theme it also highlights Dali’s consistent application of classical methodology: The cauliflower floret also reflecting Dali’s obsession with ancient ideas of perfect proportion and spirals. To the left a hand holds a Rhinoceros horn which for Dali signified Divine Geometry as it is a formation which defines the perfectly proportioned logarithmic spirals used within nature and so within the Classic arts. In addition, Dali regarded Rhinoceros Horns as symbol of chastity akin to the legend of the Unicorn. A classic Dali Masterwork without question.
