Eternity Tree has a curious twist other than within its branches. The Eternity Tree to the Pagans was the evergreen and for them it had the power to ward of evil. For the Pagans some plants were destined to die with the fall; never to recoup the freezing cold temperatures of winter: And it was evil spirits that were blamed for the cold and ice that would mark their downfall.

While some died others would lay dormant and revive again in spring: The evergreens survived because they were good and so able to withstand those evil spirits: Thus became a symbol of immortality. Here we see a tree that has lost it leaves and the colors suggest that this is certainly fall. While this may not be the evergreen there is suggestion that this tree’s strength will return in spring: A powerful reminder maybe that we are all vulnerable to the powers of evil.
