Crafty Arts is a strong and tactile composition of gold, silver and orange. The Arts and Crafts Movement of the late eighteen hundreds was a reaction against the ornate and contrived styles which had evolved due to the industrial revolution – When skilled craftsmen were replaced by machine-production. It represented a revival of the arts and crafts: Simple forms which avoided over embellishment.

Dedication – truth to materials - was advocated. Crafty Arts reflects these concepts. Decorative and yet wholly true to material which is in this case oil paints. The paint has been applied thickly to give texture. The pattern is simple; line, circles and squares: The most basic forms and also the most essential.
