In the
first instance Beautiful Prayer conjures up ideas of spirituality and the new
millennia: And yet it also relates to the Catholic prayer of Saint Francis of
Assisi from the thirteenth century: Although the specific prayer in question
cannot actually be traced beyond 1912 printed in a French Spiritual publication
called La Clochette – Which coincidently (or not) is around the time that
modern art was born. This is a colorful and vibrant set of canvas art works
with a highly contemporary style. A five piece set that would create a bold
focal point with its myriad of rainbow hues.
This prayer
was first published in America during 193b when Chicago born Senator Hawkes put
millions of copies in circulation shortly after World War II. It first referred
to as a beautiful prayer by Egidio Picucci in January 2009 issue of
L’Osservatore Romano. In 1915 the Marquis Stanislas de La Rochethulon sent this
prayer to Pope Benedict XV who ordered an Italian translation be printed upon
the front page ofL'Osservatore
Romano in January 1916: During World War I: It has become well
known as a prayer of peace.
Beautiful
Prayer the oil painting visually reflects the essence of this prayer and the
translation is quite stunning. Indeed this is a five piece canvas art set that
deserves the prominence it will demand. Even those who do not realize the
underlying concepts and inspiration of this painting can admire what that has
produced: A well executed and stunning vision.
A
Beautiful Prayer:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon:
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope
where there is darkness, light
where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be
consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to
Eternal Life.
Amen.
