Cézanne created A Turn in the Road at La Roche-Guyon in 1885.During this phase of his career, the artist had departed from what he regarded as the ‘unstructured nature of Impressionism’ and toward a big colorful world or intersecting planes and complementary form. Over time Cezanne's initially somewhat crude style evolved; becoming more elegant although never losing its somewhat rugged edge: His colors also became brighter as well as more pure.
