Almond Branches In Bloom is an accurate rendition of Van Gogh's original oil painting, 'Blossoming Almond Tree'.  One of van Gogh's most well known paintings, created by him at a time when his final days were upon him. His brother Theodore, and wife Johanna, named their first child after Vincent. In honor of that, Van Gogh creating this delicate oil painting. Not only does the sensitivity of it reflect his affection for the child, it also reflects his affection for Japanese art.

The letters of Van Gogh, to his mother, brother, sister Willemena and other artists working at the time, are almost as famous as his work. On the February 20^th 1890 Van Gogh wrote to his mother, 'I started right away to make a picture for Vincent [Theo's son], to hang in their bedroom, big branches of white almond blossom against a blue sky'.  There is no-one who could describe this work better, than the artist himself.

In another letter to Theodore on April 15^th, Van Gogh describes 'Branches In Blossom' as the 'most patiently worked thing I had done'.  This oil painting was originally hung above the bed of Vincent Van Gogh's small nephew.  According to Johanna the child was 'enthralled' by the picture. Today, Almond Branches In Bloom would make an attractive addition to a child's room.  Although it is more than capable of enthralling adults and children alike.
