The incredible detail of the artist’s original has been carefully reproduced to the highest most exacting standards. The original Allegory of Sculpture - Allegorie der Skulptur - was created by Gustav Klimt in 1889. Today this incredibly sensitive mixed medium work of art is part of the collection at the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, Austria.

Klimt used Pencil and watercolours on cardboard which he highlighted with gold on cardboard. From 1876 to 1883 Klimt studied as an architectural painter at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. His education was conservative and this art work displays Klimt’s achievement as an academic artist.

Klimt worked as a professional artist primarily being commissioned to complete murals for the public buildings situated on the Ringstraße (Ringstrasse): A circular road encompassing the Innere Stadt in Vienna district. In 1888, just six years after leaving school Klimt was awarded the prestigious Golden order of Merit from then King of Austria – Fran Josef I – for the murals he produced in Vienna’s Burg Theatre and was also made an honorary member of both Vienna University and Munich University.
